Is there a layer-based image editor for schools that runs on old computers?
Colorpool includes Colorpool Photo, a layer-based image editor that runs in the browser. It has selections, brushes, type, masks and 27 blend modes, and it lets you lower the preview resolution on slow computers instead of removing features.
Can students use creative software without an email address?
Yes. A teacher creates a class code, and students join with the code and a nickname. Colorpool does not collect student emails, and students do not pay.
Where are students' files stored?
On the computer they use, in the browser's storage. Nothing is uploaded. Work moves between computers as one .cpool file.
How much does it cost for a school?
Nothing during early access: every app is free. Planned prices: students free with a class code, a teacher plan at €9.99 a month for up to 40 students, payable by invoice.
Does it teach skills that carry over to professional software?
Yes. Layers, timelines, curves, extrusion and keyboard shortcuts work the way creative software usually does, so what students learn here carries over.
